Description
Introducing our new direct fit oil cooler for the Honda FK8 Civic Type R. The HEL (Automotive) Devlopment Centre has been working on this kit for some time now, and we are happy to announce its release.
Unlike the FK2 Civic Type R, there was not a great deal of room to fit an oil cooler in direct air flow, without either blocking the intercooler or trying to squeeze a cooler behind the front grill – which would limit the useful area of the cooler to around 5 rows, the rest hidden behind the bumper.
After considering various locations we decided to develop a full “Race Inspired” oil cooler and brake duct to split the air flow for both brake and oil cooling.
The oil cooler ducting is laser cut from sheet aluminium before being bent to exact tolerance to fit the front left of the car. The ducting is hard anodised black to give long term protection.
A 16 Row Setrab Series 6 ProLine oil cooler oil cooler is used in this kit. The 16 row option gives a great balance between minimising pressure loss while giving very effective cooling.
At the other end our cooler we opted for our latest Multi Angled Billet Thermostatic sandwich plate. The front mounted thermostat gives extra clearance on this kit where space around the oil filter is limited.
HEL Performance Multi Angled Billet thermostatic sandwich plate set at 92°C (197.6°F). We’ve found the 92°C option gives you the perfect balance between cooling when needed and letting the engine warm up safely. It’s also dangerous for the oil to be too cold and the thermostat controls the temperature with precision.
This comprehensive kit come complete with preassembled high flow AN10 HEL braided hoses and anodised aluminium fittings. The entire length of the hoses is protected with our HEL Performance high temp 1000°C heat sleeve.
This direct-fit kit offers a safe and reliable cooling system for the FK8 Type R. It comes complete with easy-to-understand instructions and our technical support team are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
